Effective January 1, 2019:
- 8 modified codes approved as Category I (97151-97158)
- 2 modified codes to remain Category III (0362T, 0373T)
These changes were significant in creating a more consistent adherence to the descriptors as approved by the CPT Editorial Panel and reducing denials of ABA services on the premise that they lack evidence of efficacy and medical necessity.
